The Finest Natural Wax
Every Elsie & Tom candle is crafted using 100% natural soy wax — chosen not just for its clean, slow burn, but for the way it carries fragrance. Natural soy wax holds essential oil scent molecules differently to paraffin, releasing them gradually and evenly as the candle burns. The result is a scent throw that feels effortless rather than overpowering — present in the room, not assaulting it.
Our Own Fragrance Blends — Designed and Crafted In-House
This is where Elsie & Tom is truly different. We don't use mass-produced fragrance oils or synthetic compounds. Every scent we burn is a bespoke blend, designed and crafted by us — using only sustainably sourced pure essential oils.
Essential oils are the pure aromatic extracts of plants, flowers, woods, and resins. They are complex scents that require knowledge, patience, and a genuine understanding of how different oils interact, evolve, and perform under heat. We develop each blend in small batches, testing and refining until the scent behaves exactly as we intend.

To Relax & Unwind
Our Relaxing Embrace is our bestselling blend for good reason. A custom formulation of geranium, bergamot, patchouli and lavender — the earthy, musky base of patchouli is uplifted by geranium, which has been used since Ancient Egyptian times to aid relaxation, with lavender and bergamot layered to support grounding emotions, reduce stress and calm nerves. It's spa-level relaxation, in a candle.
Lavender and Mint takes a different approach to the same destination: the soft serenity of delicate floral lavender, uplifted by clean, bright spearmint to evoke clarity and press pause on a busy mind. A simple yet powerful combination.
Lavender, Geranium and Black Pepper adds depth and warmth to the familiar comfort of lavender — black pepper draws on its aromatherapy benefits to warm and uplift, while geranium introduces a touch of complex sweetness that makes you feel truly at home.
To Ground & Calm
Time to Unwind blends deep, woody sandalwood with sweet, floral bergamot — a combination that instils calm and eases you into decompression. Sandalwood has been used for generations in iconic perfumes, famed for its richness and depth; paired with bergamot, it invites the mind to slow down.
Patchouli and Wood was made for cosy evenings. Earthy vetiver and rich cedarwood open the fragrance, before lifting into the warming woody notes of patchouli with a finishing touch of bergamot for balance. Earthy, inviting, and deeply grounding.
To Energise & Uplift
Bergamot — loved in aromatherapy for its ability to inspire and lighten moods — stands alone in our single-note candle, its bittersweet fragrance gently permeating any room to brighten and uplift your surrounding.
Lime, Basil and Mandarin is a firm favourite in home offices and kitchens. Lime and mandarin bring a clean, punchy fruity note. Initially invigorating our version of this fragrance blend is tempered by warm and peppery basil essential oil for a truly fresh scent that sharpens focus and lifts energy.
Oriental Orange brings surprising complexity to citrus. A base of patchouli, vetiver and cedarwood provides warmth and depth, before zesty bergamot and light lemon verbena paint an uplifting streak through the heart of the fragrance — dynamic, energising, and genuinely sophisticated.
Fragrance as Ritual
The most powerful thing about scent is its ability to signal. Right now as I work on this post I am burning Oriental Orange. It helps me focus as well being a fragrance that calms and restores. I like to light the same candle each evening as part of my intention to unwind and relax from the day, and my aromatherapy candles create a calming space in which to do this.
This is the essence of a ritual — a repeated, intentional act that anchors you. My candles are designed to be part of yours. Whether that's a morning moment of clarity with Lime, Basil and Mandarin, or my Lavender and Mint Candle which is a firm favorite of mine for morning rituals, to an evening of genuine restoration with Relaxing Embrace — there is an Elsie & Tom blend made those specific moments.
Cotton Wicks, Cleanly Burned
The wick is the engine of a candle, and ours are made from natural cotton. No zinc cores, no synthetic or paraffin coatings. A cotton wick burns cleanly, with minimal soot and a steady, controlled flame ( please do trim the wick before each burn) that ensures an even melt pool from the very first burn — so every drop of essential oil is released exactly as intended.
Handmade in Suffolk
Each candle is hand-poured in small batches at our Suffolk studio. This isn't a production line — it's a craft. Small-batch making means every candle receives individual attention: the right pour temperature, the correct essential oil load, the careful centring of the wick. It's the kind of care that simply cannot be replicated at scale.
